I speak about authenticity, wellbeing and navigating change. The very human things that shape how we live, work, lead and relate to each other.

My talks bring together lived experience, honest reflection and practical coaching tools. There’s warmth, a little cheek and room for people to recognise themselves in what we’re exploring.

I want your audience to leave with something they can use. A question worth sitting with. A conversation they’re ready to have. A next step that matters enough to take.

We bring our whole lives to work.

Even the bits we’d prefer stayed at home.
The fear of getting it wrong, the need to be liked, the habit of saying yes when we’re already stretched. The feeling that we should have it all figured out by now, especially with that job title. These things influence how we communicate, make decisions, respond to change and lead others. I create space to look at them with honesty and curiosity. To recognise the patterns we’ve been living by and consider whether they still serve us, and therefore others. Expect stories, questions and opportunities to reflect. There will probably be a moment of, “Oh, she’s talking about me.” Thankfully, you won’t be the only one.

My presentations are here to make you think, laugh and possibly cry, and to leave you with something tangible to take away.

SPEAKING TOPICS

Leadership asks us to make decisions, navigate expectations and have conversations that aren’t always comfortable. When the pressure rises, it’s easy to slip into keeping everyone happy, having all the answers or saying what we think people want to hear.

This talk explores how our values translate into the way we lead, communicate and build trust. We look at the gap between what we say matters and what our everyday behaviour communicates, particularly when things get difficult.

Through honest reflection and practical tools, participants explore how to communicate clearly, recognise the impact they have on others and make decisions they can stand behind. There’s also room to consider how our identity shifts as responsibilities grow, and which familiar habits might need to grow with us.

Because being someone people can trust includes being willing to say, “I haven’t got it all figured out, let’s talk.”

Being capable doesn’t mean having endless capacity. Yet in busy workplaces, the people who keep delivering are often the last to acknowledge what it’s costing them.

This talk explores the relationship between performance, energy and the expectations we place on ourselves and each other. We look at the habits that make switching off difficult, why asking for support can feel uncomfortable and how leaders influence what their teams believe is acceptable.

Drawing on the balance between action and rest, participants reflect on their working patterns and identify practical ways to communicate capacity, set clearer boundaries and make room for recovery. We also consider where workload, priorities and team expectations need an honest conversation.

Sustainable performance needs space in the working day. It can’t all be left to a Sunday night bath.

A new direction can make perfect sense on paper and still feel unsettling to the people expected to deliver it. Change can challenge our confidence, competence and sense of where we belong, especially when we’ve spent years becoming good at doing things a certain way.

This talk explores the human side of change and how uncertainty can show up as overthinking, defensiveness, perfectionism or a tighter grip on control. We get curious about those responses while making room for legitimate questions and concerns.

Through reflection and a practical coaching tool, participants learn to recognise their own reactions, distinguish what they can influence and identify a useful next step. Leaders are invited to consider how they listen, communicate and support people through the transition.

The aim is to help people respond thoughtfully, have the conversations that matter and move forward with greater clarity, even while some answers are still taking shape.

kind words

Kat led a development session on ‘choice’ with a group of top talent leaders at lululemon. The session was totally engaging from beginning to end and the group were captivated. Kat created a space for people to feel ok and not to be ok all at the same time. We celebrated our human-ness and through that built such a strong connection.

The response and engagement Kat John received at Movember was remarkable. The whole team felt that Kat was relatable and resonated with everyone. In a short amount of time Kat’s able to get you to feel connected to yourself and those around you. Her energy and style ensure there is always a heartfelt belly laugh not too far away. My colleagues shared how much they loved Kat and her style. Her energy and how real she is magic – no bullshit.

Kat blew us away at our Health and Well-being event. She hit us straight in the heart with her relatable stories and provided a simple yet powerful tool to utilise when our minds begin to overpower our ability to make empowering choices. There were laughs, tears and a tangible experience of going inward to find the answers. What a woman!

Tennis AUS

Kat connected to the group on a personal level, detailing how she has used positive visualisation and creating goals to overcome all obstacles that stood in front of her. Kat was able to cater to our athletes of all ages, creating a strong connection and inspiring them to be the best they can, both in and out of the water.

We all genuinely loved it. I received some beautiful feedback, including how down-to-earth and engaging the workshop felt, and how there was a real sense of increased cohesion among us as a leadership team. I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome, so thank you!

KIN PROPERTY

Kat was excellent to work with. It felt aligned from the beginning of conversations – through to the speaking event itself. Our event was a very intimate roundtable discussion and Kat was engaging, informative, honest, curious and of course – authentic. Our audience got a lot out of the session with the overwhelming feedback being how engaging and grounded it was.

There are very few people who can walk into a room and completely shift the energy the way Kat John can. The way she communicates through her words, body language, emotion, and authenticity is something you can physically feel in the room.

The feedback from those who attended was incredibly powerful. In a room full of incredible moments, Kat was consistently named as the standout because she showed up fully as herself and gave others permission to do the same.
